Nvwati is a Cherokee word meaning “Good Medicine”. The Medicine Wheel is representative of Good Medicine in Native American Spirituality. It symbolizes the individual journey we each must take to find our own path. At C Horse Sanctuary, we are dedicated to providing good medicine to both people and horses. We realize the "possibilities are Endless" www.erfinc.org so, life's a circle and we all help each other and appreciate our diversity.
Our goal is to raise awareness and change behaviors and paths. Through our program, children, teens, and adults can recognize behavior choices and choose their response. We offer the chance to learn to keep themselves in a safe place – free from danger, risk or injury by use of a unique desire to work through a horse.
We have recently been honored to work with Sacred Way Sanctuary, another organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of native horses, and to educating others about their unique history and character. Four amazing Foals have joined out herd. We have three fillies and one colt at the ranch who all came from different Native American tribes throughout the US. Each foal is part of a PhD research project on the Native American horse. Therefore, their tribal lineage, birth dates, and “family history” have been carefully recorded. Nvwati, the Colt is now here and the " Possibilities are Endless" as he is a Cherokee medicine horse, meaning his instinct and capacity to help others to heal is strong. We are honored to have been chosen as part of this important quest to save this rare and important lineage of horses.
Our horses give a vehicle to allow kids, teens, and adults to move forward – to pass into healing and to build their core strength. We provide actions to learn from rather than words, thus mirroring healthy patterns for families, caregivers and peers. We provide a rare and unique method to over-coming the challenges of bullying and/or low self-esteem. The way a horses behave within the herd gives a rare and amazing way to introduce values, ethics, coping tools, stress reduction techniques and increased appropriate communication choices. Responding with tools, communication skills, and understanding behavior choices empower our clients to visualize healthier interactions and relationships.
We find when intense Equine Assisted Psycho-therapy is needed; keeping our clients in their environment & giving them the tools to deal with challenges presented rather than removing them from those challenges can be beneficial
We know our Program lends itself well to working with diverse groups and can be customized to meet the needs of each group
